Artists Communicate Through Their Work

-This artwork (middle picture)  is intended to say that nature starts as soon as you open the door. An issue that I encountered was the wind. The wind/ slight breeze would blow away my leaves and then I would have to replace them where they needed to be. This artwork expresses what I like because it's very unique and creative. It also shows my appreciation toward nature.

Wearable Art

Galaxy Head band
Artists Develop Art Making Skills
FFor e
-I did learn new techniques while doing this project. I learned how to make dye, how to use dry dye for a darker affect, and how to splatter paint (to get the stars affect).
-I also gained skill with similar material such as cotton, tie-dye, and paint while working on this project.

Artists Collaborate
-During my work process I did ask a couple of other students to look at my art. I had asked my friends Callie and Caytlin for their feedback. Having some one examine your art work is great because most of the time they help you improve your art work by seeing things that you did not see.
-As I was doing some headband research for this project on Wanelo, it really inspired me to be creative in my own way because on Wanelo everyone post their own creations. This inspired me to make my headband look like it could be bought on Wanelo.

Michael Smith is a professional Shibori artist/maker. He makes all kinds of wearable Shibori art. He is from Asheville, North Carolina.

The technique Michael uses is a non-traditional Shibori. I think his work is more retail design because he sells his clothing online and has worked under the names of: Three Wishes, Chaos, and Mystic Eye. I picked this artist because his work is very eye catching and colorful. His Shibori art is very unique and different than other art seen on the web.The full body Shibori costumes on his website is what really attracted me to his art work.

One Point Perspective

Artists Create Original Art:
-I used my own unique idea in my work by drawing what fuels me. In my art work the 2014 Worlds Ring is what fuels me to keep cheer-leading.

-I did use my source of inspiration for this art piece. I also combined it with my favorite color (purple) to make the ring stand out.

Artists Take Risks:
-I did try something that I was unsure about for this project. I was worried about drawing the shape of the ring and making it look barrel-like.

-I choose a familiar technique for drawing this ring. I stuck with using pencil and colored pencil. I also used my shading techniques to make the ring look more 3-D.

Art History Blog Post

" The Breakfast Scene" By: William Hogarth
This piece was made in 1745 in London. In this scene it is past midnight in the home of the newlywed couple. The husband has returned from a night out and collapses in a chair. His dog sniffs suspiciously at a woman’s cap in his pocket. The wife has not been idle either. The cards on the floor and the booklet “Hoyle on Whist” indicate an earlier card party. The steward laments the stack of unpaid bills that he carries.

This is a Baroque style of artwork.  is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance, and music. The style began around 1600 in Rome, Italy and spread to most of Europe.

The popularity and success of the Baroque style was encouraged by the Roman Catholic Church, which had decided at the time of the Council of Trent, in response to the Protestant Reformation, that the arts should communicate religious themes in direct and emotional involvement. The aristocracy also saw the dramatic style of Baroque architecture and art as a means of impressing visitors and expressing triumph, power and control. Baroque palaces are built around an entrance of courts, grand staircases and reception rooms of sequentially increasing opulence.

ipad drawing

A layer is a sheet or thickness of material that covers a surface or body. I added different layers of color onto my drawing to add a more 3-D effect.

Artists Create Original Art:
I used my own unique ideas in this portrait by shading and blending. I also tried using different values to show where the light hits my brother's face.

-My source of inspiration for this portrait was a picture of my brother. I chose to draw him because my parents would not let me draw them and I would have harshly criticized my drawing if I had drawn myself. I didn't really combine this portrait with my own ideas, I just tried to capture all of my brother's facial features.

Artist Have a Global Awareness of Artmaking:
-I did find some inspiration form Kehinde Wiley's paintings. His paintings are very realistic, detailed, and beautiful.

-I did not use technology as a tool for this project, but I could have by projecting a picture of my brother on the board and tracing his face onto my paper.

-This portrait does look good as part of the Apex art community; I did participate as an art community member.

The artist in the video chose to make a GIF of her hand opening and closing because of her frequent hand cramps. Cheerleading plays a big part of my life; I'm constantly flipping. This is why I chose to draw me doing a back tuck as my GIF.

Artists communicate through their work:
- This art work is intended to be a recognizable face (commonly seen on social media sites) to the viewers.
-This girl's face is intended to mean or say: "what", "umm", or what ever the reader wants it to mean.
-The only issue that I had with my art work was knowing what parts to carve out for the next step.
-This art work shows that I do enjoy interacting with the Chloe face even on social media. My use of colors show my fun and creative side as well.

Artists develop art making skills:
-From working on this project I have learned how to carve (make a stamp), how to use a transfer sheet and how to use a brail.
-I also gained skills with familiar materials such as paint and a paint roller.

Color Post Finished

My piece was very successful! I did very good with the roundness of the body and my best feature is the shading from dark to light on the pig. If I could go back and change one thing I would darken the front thigh muscle to make it stand out more. This project helped me learn how I can layer up colors on top of each other for cool 3-D effects.

Color Post In Progress

I have picked the theme creature for this project and have demonstrated a creature by drawing a pig. I choose to use chalk pastel because I liked the way it blended colors well and I liked how it was easy to manipulate. My difficulty has been drawing the pig's tail. It is hard to draw the tail perfectly coiled.

Finished two-in-one Blog Post

I believe that I was very successful in drawing this piece. I think that I captured all the features of an owl and a man. I am most proud of the owl's eyes and the man's arms. I spent extra time on these parts to make sure they looked just right. If I could go back and change one thing, I would change the nose and try and make it better. I have incorporated the theme two-in-one by combining an animal's head with a man's body.

Two in One Project

For this project I have chosen to combine an owl head with a human torso. To be honest, this idea came to me randomly. I chose to combine these two things because an owl's head is very similar to a human head. A human with an owls head is not something you see every day, therefore I decided to continue sketching with my unique idea. I believe that the owl head combined with a very muscular male body, will catch the eye of many people and interest them in my art work. I chose to use pencil and paper for this art piece. I feel more comfortable knowing that I can erase my mistakes. So far I have had difficulty in making the owl nose look 3D.
